~Nanners and Daniel~ asked: Ok, I’m getting married on Valentine’s Day and my fiance and I have had our hearts set on a specific cabin for our wedding. I e-mailed the owners not long ago and they told me that we were ok for the cabin and it was ours for our wedding and honeymoon! We didn’t pay a deposit, thank God, and we just found out that we can’t rent it! Someone else has it for that weekend! I’m really upset about this, I was excited about being able to rent this cabin. (I posted a question about decorating it just minutes before I got the e-mail!) Does anyone have any cabin suggestions in Gatlinburg? Or anywhere (we live in Virginia, near Roanoke, and we don’t want to travel more than 5 hours)? We can’t spend more tan $80-$100 a night. My fiance is very angry about this and I just want to have that romantic weekend with him, but it’s becoming too much! Does anyone have any suggestions? The help is very appreciated!
I’m really looking to rent from somewhere else. This was the only cabin we really liked, and I feel like they could have done something better. I was told the deposit wasn’t needed until the beginning of July in case we found something else but it would be saved for us until July 1, and now they are renting to someone else. I don’t want to do business with these people, I just want to find another cabin so we can get married. My fiance is royally pissed off and wants me to let him call, but I’d rather just take my business elsewhere. My wedding is supposed to be happy, not full of fighting someone so we can get into our cabin!
Thanks Jedi. You guys ALWAYS give me good advice too. I’m just really angry right now. We’ve made arrangements for everything, and now we’re having to start all over. One good thing that is coming from this mess is that we’ve decided to not go with a package deal wedding. I’ even considering seeing what I can do as far as having an actual wedding, something small. I’m not so sure what I can do, and we’ve both kind of really had our hearts set on eloping. We’ve had to change so many plans because things keep coming up, and I just really want to have the wedding of my dreams, whether it’s eloping or not! I want to get married at a cabin, it’s very romantic, and my fiance thinks its a great idea, but I don’t want to do business with these people anymore.
