We’re looking to rent a cabin for a week in Tennessee this October. I’ve found several seemingly nice ones online, but I’m worried about how they might look in person. I’m wondering if anyone is familiar with some of these properties or the areas.
Victorian Heights Walden’s creek. (there is a nice looking Victorian cottage called Hemlock Heights)
We’ve also been looking at sunsetcottage.com

Any other suggestions about nice cabins that you or someone you know have stayed at near Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge? We’re looking to spend 1,000 or less for a week.

Thanks.

I’m trying to decide between taking a trip (October) to the North Georgia Mts or the Great Smoky Mts. We were married in Gatlinburg 4 years ago and stayed in a cabin. I would like a waterfront cabin…lake, river, creek… this time around. Would love to be secluded but a short drive to shopping, cafes, area attractions. Anyone know of a cabin rental agency that they would recommend? Any input would be greatly welcomed!

My girlfriend and I have been together for about 4 years. Recently we were getting very stressed out and decided it would be good for our relationship to take a vacation to gatlinburg. We stayed in a cabin, had romantic dinners, played in a hot tub, and more. Now that we are back in looking for some tips for romantic things to do at home without spending a ton of cash. We spent most of it on vacation. She says i have forgotten how to initiate romance, and truthfully, it has slipped. i feel kinda awkard like i can’t remember what to do to be romantic. So give me some tips here, i am especially looking forward to hearing what the ladies have to say because what turns you on is ushually completely different then what turns on us guys.

I’m starting to plan my wedding and we’ve decided we want to get married in Gatlinburg. We want to rent a cabin and have the reception there. I’m having trouble finding a cabin that has a large enough porch/deck or living area that we could set up a few tables. There should be seating for atleast 20 (so thats about 5 small tables). However, I do not want to rent one of the 5-10 bedroom cabin/chalets when it will just be the two of us staying there. I’m also considering having the wedding itself at the cabin. So I’d like something with somewhat a large step area. Is there anyone from the area or has done this before?? I’m about 500 miles from there so it’s kinda hard to know what all of my options are. Also any additional ideas or information would be helpful! :)

I am planning to book a hotel instead of Cabin. Yeah… I am on a budget. Do I stay in Knoxville or Gatlinburg/nearby. There is 20% price difference.

Ok, I’m getting married on Valentine’s Day and my fiance and I have had our hearts set on a specific cabin for our wedding. I e-mailed the owners not long ago and they told me that we were ok for the cabin and it was ours for our wedding and honeymoon! We didn’t pay a deposit, thank God, and we just found out that we can’t rent it! Someone else has it for that weekend! I’m really upset about this, I was excited about being able to rent this cabin. (I posted a question about decorating it just minutes before I got the e-mail!) Does anyone have any cabin suggestions in Gatlinburg? Or anywhere (we live in Virginia, near Roanoke, and we don’t want to travel more than 5 hours)? We can’t spend more tan $80-$100 a night. My fiance is very angry about this and I just want to have that romantic weekend with him, but it’s becoming too much! Does anyone have any suggestions? The help is very appreciated!
I’m really looking to rent from somewhere else. This was the only cabin we really liked, and I feel like they could have done something better. I was told the deposit wasn’t needed until the beginning of July in case we found something else but it would be saved for us until July 1, and now they are renting to someone else. I don’t want to do business with these people, I just want to find another cabin so we can get married. My fiance is royally pissed off and wants me to let him call, but I’d rather just take my business elsewhere. My wedding is supposed to be happy, not full of fighting someone so we can get into our cabin!
Thanks Jedi. You guys ALWAYS give me good advice too. I’m just really angry right now. We’ve made arrangements for everything, and now we’re having to start all over. One good thing that is coming from this mess is that we’ve decided to not go with a package deal wedding. I’ even considering seeing what I can do as far as having an actual wedding, something small. I’m not so sure what I can do, and we’ve both kind of really had our hearts set on eloping. We’ve had to change so many plans because things keep coming up, and I just really want to have the wedding of my dreams, whether it’s eloping or not! I want to get married at a cabin, it’s very romantic, and my fiance thinks its a great idea, but I don’t want to do business with these people anymore.

We have decided to have our reception in a chalet in Gatlinburg, Tn. We are getting married in Gatlinburg, Tn so we are renting out a cabin that has a full kitchen and is in the mountains. It is really nice, but the way it is set up prevents any dancing and the decor is hard to work with…It looks like a hunter’s cabin type thing…How can I decorate this? We are getting married May 30th 2009.
